Lighting has a substantial impact on the energy consumption in non-residential buildings, accounting for up to 1/3 of the electricity used in some office buildings for example. With the help of modern technology, major energy savings can be achieved. Depending on the existing inventory and set-up of the lighting systems in a non-residential buildings, energy savings between 30 and 50 percent may be achieved by improving the existing lighting systems.
